Staso CLI

Update Staso

If you installed with pip

Run this from the Python environment that contains staso:

staso update
staso version
staso status

staso update runs python -m pip install --upgrade staso with the CLI's current interpreter, then syncs all discovered Claude Code and Codex hooks. It needs pip in that environment. The upgrade does not create a test trace. Restart any long-running Python process to load the new package.

If another tool manages the environment

Upgrade staso with that tool, then refresh the hook paths:

staso sync
staso version
staso status

For example, use your uv tool, pipx, or project environment's upgrade command before staso sync. Run these commands from the updated installation, since hook commands point at its Python executable.

Verify the result

  1. Check the version with staso version or staso --version.
  2. Check each configured target with staso status --target claude-code or staso status --target codex.
  3. Run a new agent task and open its trace in Staso. For Codex, review and trust any changed hook commands in Settings.

If the hooks point to an old interpreter, run staso sync --target <agent>. See coding agent setup if this is the first installation.
